Walk & Talk Counselling
Counselling outdoors, side by side
For some people, talking while walking can feel more natural than sitting in front of a screen. Walk & Talk counselling offers the same supportive counselling relationship, with the session taking place outdoors on an agreed route.
What is Walk & Talk counselling?
We meet at an agreed location and walk together at a pace that is comfortable for you. You do not need to be particularly fit, and the session is not about exercise. The focus remains on you and whatever you would like to bring to counselling.
Some people find that walking side by side, being outdoors and not having to maintain eye contact can make it easier to talk. It is simply another way of having a counselling session, and it will not suit everybody.
Locations
Walk & Talk sessions are available by prior arrangement at selected routes in Greater Manchester:
We will agree the exact meeting point and suitable route before the session, taking account of your mobility, accessibility needs and the conditions on the day.
Privacy and confidentiality outdoors
Confidentiality remains an important part of counselling, but an outdoor public setting is different from a private room or online session. We may pass other people during the walk, so complete privacy from passers-by cannot be guaranteed.
Before your first Walk & Talk session, we can discuss what you would like us to do if either of us sees somebody we know while we are out.
Weather, accessibility and safety
Routes are considered in advance and sessions will only go ahead where the route and weather conditions are suitable. If conditions are unsafe or unsuitable, we can discuss rearranging the session or, where appropriate, moving the appointment online.
Please wear footwear and clothing suitable for the weather and the agreed route. If you have mobility or accessibility needs, let me know when you enquire so we can consider which location and route may be most suitable.
Fee
£65 for a 60-minute Walk & Talk counselling session.
I offer a free initial consultation before counselling begins, so we can talk about what you are looking for and whether Walk & Talk feels suitable for you.
