Who is responsible for your information?

Let Me Help Counselling is operated by Janine Conway. For data protection purposes, I am responsible for the personal information I collect and use in connection with my counselling practice.

Information I may collect

If you contact me through the website enquiry form or by email, I may receive information such as:

• your name;
• your email address;
• your phone number, if you choose to provide it;
• your preferred method of contact; and
• the information you include in your message.

Please keep an initial enquiry brief and avoid including sensitive or urgent personal information unless it is necessary.

Why I use your information

I use enquiry information so that I can respond to you, discuss whether counselling may be suitable, arrange an initial consultation where appropriate, and take reasonable steps at your request before counselling begins.

Where counselling goes ahead, I will explain separately how information connected with our counselling work is handled.

My lawful basis for using your information

Depending on why you contact me, I will usually process your information because it is necessary to respond to your request and take steps before entering into a counselling agreement, or because I have a legitimate interest in responding to enquiries and running my practice appropriately.

If special category information, such as information about your health, is provided and needs to be processed, I will only do so where there is an appropriate lawful condition for doing so.

Website enquiry form

The contact form on this website is provided using Formspree. When you submit the form, the information you enter is processed through Formspree so that your enquiry can be delivered to me. Formspree operates its own privacy and security practices.

You can also choose to contact me directly by email instead of using the form.

Who I share information with

I do not sell your personal information. I may use trusted service providers where necessary to operate the website, email and enquiry services. Information may also need to be disclosed where I have a legal obligation to do so, or where this is necessary in relation to a serious safety concern and there is a lawful basis for disclosure.

How long I keep enquiry information

I keep personal information only for as long as it is reasonably needed for the purpose for which it was collected and for any legal, professional or insurance requirements that apply. Enquiries that do not lead to counselling will not be kept indefinitely.

Keeping your information secure

I take reasonable steps to protect personal information from loss, misuse, unauthorised access or disclosure. No method of sending information over the internet can be guaranteed to be completely secure, which is why I ask you not to include unnecessary sensitive information in an initial website enquiry.

Your data protection rights

Depending on the circumstances, UK data protection law may give you rights over your personal information, including the right to ask for access to it, correction of inaccurate information, deletion or restriction of processing, and in some circumstances the right to object or ask for information to be transferred.

Concerns or complaints

If you have concerns about how I have handled your personal information, please contact me first so that I have an opportunity to address them. You also have the right to raise a concern with the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK's data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk.

Changes to this notice

I may update this privacy notice when the website, my services or data protection requirements change. The date at the top of this page will show when it was last updated.
